The summer schedule for Go Wild in the Woods is now live!
The sessions will be delivered by Julie Lloyd-Evans of Learning Without Walls - and she's got lots of fantastic stuff planned. Thanks to Wates Family Enterprise Trust, we are again able to offer these sessions FREE.

Tuesday 29th July - Woodland Homes & Habitats
Morning 10.30 -12.00pm – Magical homes for Fairies and Elves
Using nature detective skills and wild imaginations the group will discover what lives in woodland both real and magical. When arriving at the top of the Millennium Woods, using natural materials and resources, secret homes will be designed and built for ‘Fairies and Elves’
(Suitable for all ages but ideal for under 12’s)
Afternoon 1.30-3.00pm - Shelter Building and Hammock Chilling
The woodland walk will involve some plant ID and understanding the properties of different wood for shelters and resources. When arriving at the woodland base, the children will divide into groups and build shelters near a hammock for an afternoon of chilled community building.
(All ages welcome but ideal for over 7’s)
Wednesday 6th August – Get Crafty with Nature
Morning 10.30-12.00pm – Invertebrate Art
During the woodland walk nature spotters will search for the weird and wonderful minibeasts, before creating wonderful critter pictures and clay models.
(Suitable for all ages)
Afternoon 1.30-3.00pm – Wooden Puppet Making
Using wooden discs, sticks and string the group will create a puppet or wooden creature to take home.
(This session will include basic tool use so is advised for over 7’s.)
Thursday 28th August – Go Wild in Nature
Morning 10.30-12.00pm – Natural Dyes and Paints
Learn about colours in nature and how they can be used to dye fabrics. A range colours will be used to tie dye fabrics. Bring along a pale t-shirt or pillowcase. Take home a uniquely & naturally coloured item.
(Suitable for all ages)
Afternoon 1.30- 3.30pm – Fire Lighting and Cooking
We will set up at Padbury Allotment for a fun session of advanced open fire cooking (damper bread, herbal teas, and sweet treats) and plant dye extraction.
(Please note that owing to the activities, the minimum age for this session is 8 years old.)
