Back in 2020, navigating the novelty of lockdown, we noticed how peaceful the village was and how both nature and flowers were blooming. This was the catalyst for a small group of people to come together and discuss ideas and share knowledge towards creating and developing a greener Padbury. This month, we marked the fifth anniversary of our first Zoom meeting, recalling that it wasn't until months later that some of us met each other in person for the first time!
Since then, we've been busy. Go Wild is in its fourth year, offering free woodland activities in school holidays; Muddy Toddlers is in its third year; our biodiversity plans are well underway in the Millennium Woods with new scallops, a meadow establishing, birdboxes, bat boxes and more than 1000 plugs planted; the village is more than 60 trees better off; the community allotment is up and running, and green spaces in the village have been planted for wildlife; we've organised a Greener Gardens festival, held a consultation day, been to environmental fairs around the county, run several community evenings, won a Proud of Bucks award, and become a registered charity.
There’s loads more to do and we’re busy planning the next five years! Thank you for all your support. If you’d like to get more involved, we’d love to hear from you: agreenerpadbury@gmail.com or talk to any of us – click here to find out more about who we are.
